Downtown Roanoke by Day, and Night

Sections: Scenes of Roanoke — Written By: Steve

Happy New Year!!

This past Saturday I drove out to see dad (near Bedford) for a holiday gathering.

So, I drove through the downtown Roanoke area once during the late morning on the way out there. And, again on the way back across town a little bit after dusk.

Here are a couple pictures I managed to take along the way:

  1. My husband and I are thinking of moving to Roanoke in a few years when he retires. What can you tell us about living there. We are native New Yorkers but I am tired of the cold. I am somewhat handicapped so housing is of importance.
What is the weather like? How cold is cold down there? Are Northerners welcome? We know nothing about Southern living.

  2. Maggi, thanks for the comment. Tell you what, I’ll work on writing a post and touching on some of the various (good, bad, and indifferent) aspects of Roanoke from my point-of-view. I’m just one perspective, but I have lived here my entire life.
